Cannot set Power options to stay where I want them.

I bought a new computer with windows 7 and it keeps going to sleep after 1 Min unless I keep the mouse moving.
I went into the properties and changed everything for the sleep time but it doesn't seem to work.I need to set it for never or at least 4 hours
for when I stream to my TV.  It is Windows 7 Home Premium.  There are so many power plans to choose from I am completely lost.

Keys to the Problem Cannot set Power options to stay where I want them.

Download SmartPCFixer to Fix It (Free)

Does it "wake up" in a second or possibly two or does it "wake up" in the blink of an eye?  If it's the latter then you are referring to the screensaver - see Control panel, Personalisation, Screensaver [in the bottom right-hand corner].
Additionally, go to WMP [if that's what you are using to play the videos], click on
Organise near the top left of the window, select Options..., click on the
Player tab, clear the checkbox for Allow screen saver during playback.  You'll need to reset it when you have finished if you want a screen saver during other periods.
PCs normally start off with three Win7 power plans [High performance, Balanced, Power saver] & any that the PC maker has put on [typically using their brand name in the name of the power plan concerned].  I agree that there are a large number of
Advanced settings for each power plan.  If this does not turn out to be a screensaver issue then please say whether or not the settings you have put on are still the same when you go back & look again later [as this can help to narrow down the cause
of the problem].  There are many threads in the forum about power plans - this one has a full set of remedial checks

Use the System File Checker tool to repair corrupted or missing system files:

  1. Click Start.
  2. Type cmd, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to open the elevated command prompt (I.e. Command prompt with administrative rights).
  3. The User Account Control window should appear, be sure that the action it exhibits is correct, and then press the Continue button.
  4. Type or copy paste the below command line into it without quotes:
  5. "Sfc /scannow"
